Original artwork description:

With this series I have been walking and exploring between Arnside and Silverdale and drawn to the estuary area of Newbarns just before the water of the Kent runs out into the expanse of the Bay. The small area here varies from shallow rocky and shaded outcrops to steep rockfaces and then vast open sands. Irrespective of the weather it is a beautiful space. This series is from a weekend of blue skies creating what was in some scenes an almost Mediterranean feel as the light bounced off the water and across the sands. As with other work these paintings have been built up in layers with a bold impasto style that reflects my desire to connect with the painting and the environment. This series also introduces a NEW size of canvas that I will be continuing on subsequent series that will be referred to as Small/ Medium.

These paintings are all complete with beautiful handmade, chunky, scooped and hand-painted white frames - leading the eye into the work. Signed by me on the front - and all labelled on the reverse these are ready to hang.

Materials used:

oil on canvas
