Original artwork description:

“Sanctuary”, oil on linen canvas, 170x80 cm, 2023,

Inspired by snorkeling in Crete

Part of the immersive project "Thalasso": “Thalasso” takes its name from the German term for thalassotherapy, a therapeutic approach rooted in the healing properties of the sea. Today, we are overwhelmed by an overflow of information —fragmented, contradictory, and incomplete, turning our consciousness into chaos and disrupting inner calm. Seeking to create a sanctuary, “Thalasso” offers a refuge where visitors can pause, find stillness, and reconnect with their authentic selves.
On a scientific level, “Thalasso” is inspired by the Blue Mind Theory, which explores the positive effects of blue spaces and aquatic environments on human well-being and mental health. This theory suggests that connection to water can promote relaxation, improve mood, and foster a state of calm.
