The salt marshes can be found at the edges of the Eastern Scheldt. They are located outside the dikes and have become higher than silts because of the rising ground level. They are therefore not flooded every day and are only under water at spring tides. The salt water does however enter the salt marsh every day via deep channels. The colours of the vegetation are fascinating beautiful.
Belongs to my series of coastal paintings. (view from the glider plane)
'The wonderful thing about this series and your landscapes Nelly is that you absorb your whole being and psyche into the setting; you become one with the subject you are painting. It is for this reason that it is so brilliant, so alive and exciting. We can see and feel your heartbeat in them'
