The idea for this painting came after a conversation I had with a friend who was feeling down. As I tried to uplift and encourage him, I realized that sometimes our lives are lived in a palette of neutrals and that we need others to add light and color, as Jesus says in Matthew 5:13 when he asks His followers to be salt and light, to add flavor to the lives of others in need. This painting began as a collage of watercolor papers and of Scriptural passages: Isaiah 9:1, Luke 7:36, Luke 10:25-37 and Psalm 90, with gold leaf accents. The painting has been given a satin varnish for protection, and it is already equipped with hanging hardware.
