Artwork description:

On Tuesday and Friday mornings alongside the Rue d'Alouette in Saint-Mandé there is a fresh food traders market. These days everything can be found online or in supermarkets where car parking is freely available. Saint-Mandé is a high-end commune and its' residents wouldn't usually be looking for food bargains and yet people still enjoy shopping in the open air, talking to the traders and accidentally meeting friends there. Such markets often go back hundreds of years and enhance street life. The motto of Saint-Mandé is "Cresco et Floresco", meaning "I grow and I flourish". Someone who grew and flourished here was Alfred Grévin (1827-1892) draughtsman, sculptor, cartoonist, costume designer, playwright, and founder of a wax-works museum!

This is an original relief print pulled from an engraving cut in rubber. The edition is 10 prints only. Please feel free to contact me to put a question or make a remark. The “contact me” button is further down on this page.

Materials used:

Japanese Sunome Senka paper, oil-based printing ink
