In this painting I used texture paste and contour maps. A collage of contour map and texture paste serves as a backdrop for sailor figures. I showed the life of a sailor from different angles: how they eat on deck, how they raise the sails, how they cope with everyday tasks on deck, how they play cards and spend their free time, how they wash the floors, how the captain of the ship holds the helm.

I wanted to convey fragments from the life of sailors. In order for the picture to be associated with sailors, I used a contour map, which shows how long distances sailors cover on ships, traveling from mainland to mainland.

Since in my works of figurative painting I explore the activities of people and their interests, one of the new topics for me was the history of sailors. These are people who go on a flight for months, half a year, etc. For a certain time, the ship on which they live becomes their home. All this time, their family, wife, children, friends are waiting for them somewhere at home. This is not an easy profession.
