Original artwork description:

Saint John is a lush tropical island in the Caribbean. We spent happy, serene times there many years ago. Its luxuriant greenery offered a splendid habitat for birds. After a vigorous day of bird watching, we'd retreat to a twilight rest on our balcony. It overlooked the sea and a scene that inspired this painting.
The breeze was mild; the sailboats rocked gently. I especially enjoyed the play of the light on the water.

The painting is a woven watercolor made from two pictures of the same scene; one was cut up horizontally and the other vertically. Then they were woven together.
