Original artwork description:

We visited several Caribbean islands over the years. Aside from bird watching, we spent significant stretches of time sitting on our deck reading and gazing at the water. Sailboats were almost always to be seen. This scene shows the frenzy in the water as evening approaches over the horizon. The two moons represent the magical quality of the transition to night.

The painting is a woven watercolor made from two very similar pictures of the same scene; one was cut up horizontally and the other vertically. Then they were woven together. The white edges emphasized the bouncing light on the water. This was an early attempt at that technique. I was quite pleased with it and went on to use it in other work.
