This Oil Pastel on Black Paper drawing was done “en plein air” on the banks of Lake Te Anau. It was drawn during the late afternoon after a day of hiking, as the sun was getting lower and lighting up the lake. Whilst looking for a subject and location by the Lake I noticed this sailboat and wanted to capture the way the shape broke up the sunlight on the water. I set up my Easel by the Lake and drew as the sun was getting lower, although it was unbelievably bright! I learnt that in the future I shouldn't set up to draw facing directly into the sunlight, as after a while I had to hide behind a tree to get a break from the overwhelming brightness and to let my eyes re-adjust! As with many “en plein air” drawing occasions I had the chance to chat with a lot of interested passers by as I was doing this picture.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
