Original artwork description:
An oil painting of a small traditional sailing boat. I started painting it while sitting on the deck of a boat nearby and finished it back in my studio. The evening light was captured at the time. The backdrop hillside is the hill behind the small village of Kyleakin in the south end of Skye. The bridge from the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh is very close by.
The painting is built up in glazes of oils and there is textural marks made to suggest the rocky landscape. It is framed with a beautiful wood frame painted in a mellow soft turquoise.
