Artwork description:

Minimalist Orkney seascape, a rose gold wall art canvas that would be perfect for a calming bedroom.

Safe Harbour, Isle of Orkney

At the tip of the island of South Ronaldsay on the Orkney Archipelago there is a tiny harbour that looks out across the Pentland Firth. On a soft Summery morning all is peace and calm but just beyond the horizon lies one of the most dangerous stretches of water in the world. Here lies The Swelkie, a vast whirlpool, one of the largest in the world. Norse legend has it that at the bottom of the whirlpool there is a giantess using a large millstone to grind salt, and this is why the sea is salty.

Soft rose gold and smoky grey combine perfectly for a calming peaceful image.

Signed in the bottom right hand corner.

I Love Printing!
Your beautiful artwork will be Giclée printed here in my studio on Skye on fabulous Canson Canvas. This heavy canvas has the subtle texture and, with the UV resistant non fade inks I use, it holds colour for a lifetime. Canson-Arches have been making paper and canvas for over 450 years and supplied artists like Picasso, Ingres, Miro and Warhol to name but a few. The 10 inks I use for my printing are state-of-the-art non fade Epson Ultrachrome K3 with Vivid Magenta, these give each artwork incredible depth and tone.

Other Sizes
This print is available in other sizes and on canvas or paper. I am happy to take custom orders, just drop me a line.

A Note on Canvases
Canvases are shipped in a sturdy art tube for safety and will arrive unframed. Your framer will help you to choose to have the canvas stretched over wooden bars and hang it without a frame or have it float mounted where a narrow frame is added around the stretched canvas. By default, I print the image with an additional 2 inches of white canvas border for the sides of your framed canvas. You can request this border to be a colour, black or white for example or a colour from the image.

Thanks for looking, if you have any questions just drop me a line.
