Sunlight casts its last glory of the day over a river rushing westward. Evening always gives me pause to reflect over the day; the sunset is a reminder to reflect on the day's beauty and each good moment it brought. Sunsets have a way of pulling my mind in the direction of loveliness and all that is good in life.
This painting was painted en plein air, using lavishly applied paint for a textured, impasto effect with a palette knife. M. Graham oil paints, with natural pigments in a walnut base, provide deep, rich color, and more subtle values in the distant sky.
