A lino print of a hare in mid run, printed on smooth high quality paper and mounted. I created it after working on a monoprint of the image which I was very proud of (please check it out in my shop).
The shape the hare created is so special that I could carve, print, or paint it all week long and never get sick of it. I paint a lot of ballet paintings and a lot of what attracts me to the ballet is present in this beautiful animal.
Editions will vary ever so slightly as they are hand printed, its part of the joy of printmaking. In this run the colour, in particular, will vary as the shade was created my layering different colour inks onto the linoblock. All prints are mounted with acid free card, ready to frame. This print is also available in dark brown.
What is a Linocut?
Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a printer
