Idea
The idea of freedom plays a central role in this work. At first glance, the viewer is amused by how strange and comical the situation depicted may be: a huge Dalmatian dog lies exhausted and pensive on the ground, next to him a police officer with a stop sign, most likely the police officer was the cause of the running dog's sudden stop. Due to the immense difference in size, the viewer actually asks himself how the situation depicted came about, how can it be that such a small figure of the police officer can make such a huge creature stop.
Statement of the work
In a certain way, the viewer could identify with the dog: as a human being, you often feel at the mercy of an invisible force and most of the time it is like that, because you believe in it yourself. On the other hand, you actually feel like a running dog in life, trying to run away from worries and problems instead of standing still and trying to solve all the problems.
The work might make another viewer think that life is not just about running and making money, but rather about relaxing and enjoying life more often.
Painting technique
As in all my works, I attach great importance to the most realistic representation possible in order to make the message of the picture and the situation depicted seem as real as possible. This fact makes it possible for the viewer to put themselves in the picture and dream.
