The ruin of Red Bay Castle stands look out from the headland between Cushendall and Waterfoot, in county Antrim. Many castles have been built and destroyed on this site, including one by the Bissett family in the 13th century. The remains of the one extant today was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in 1652 during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland. Read more about the castle here.
