Original artwork description:

I love all animals, especially dogs. I was asked to paint this portrait of the beautiful Ruby and absolutely loved doing it so would like to do more. I treated the work in the same way that I would paint a portrait of a person. I wanted to make it a bust portrait so I could concentrate on the features that make her 'Ruby' - the eyes being the most important part. I have used fairly thick impasto brushstrokes and used linseed oil to give the colours a resonant quality.

Please do contact me if you would like a portrait of your animal. Prices start from £450.

Materials used:

Oil paint on linen canvas
