Roundism – 03-09-19

I found a great vintage photo online that inspired me to put this female body on paper using triangles and round shapes, strengthening the pyramid like pose. I added a black square to the right of the model’s head to honor Malevich, founder of the suprematism movement. I kept some figurative recognition in the breasts and face in order to drag the beholder into believing he or she actually is looking at a model rather than seeing nothing but geometrical forms.

Graphite pencil drawing (Pentel 0.5 mm, 3B) on Canson Bristol paper (21 x 29.7 x 0.1 cm) - A4 format)
Artist: Corné Akkers
