I live near the Rouge River valley and with a short bus ride and 10 minutes walk I would right in this urban wilderness. The Rouge River is part of Rouge Park, the largest urban park in North America. It is one of a few wilderness areas left in South-Central Ontario, and has been virtually untouched by development since the arrival of Europeans.
During the autumn when the trees turning colors it is the best time to visit. I love the colorful reflection of the near by trees in the moving water.
Often with my watercolor paintings, I like to look for challenges to see what I can do with it, either explore different subjects or style. Yesterday, I thought painting moving water with reflection could be my latest.
I started the painting in late morning and about five hours later it was done, Although I paint in a realistic style but I did not want to too photography so balanced it with painterly brush strokes.
watercolor on 140lb cold press Fabriano paper, 14"x21".
