Painted in 2013, this painting is loosely based on Hermann Hesse's short story 'Rosshalde'. The picture only roughly describes the narrative of Hesse's story, however, it does capture to a greater degree the feeling of the book- a gentle, silent sadness. A glimmer of optimism is also hinted at, possibly alluding to a moment of future contentment.
