This is a work which I made quite a few years back. I have always had a fascination and slight obsession with skylines. The shapes of rooftops and chimneys against the sky have a somewhat poetic quality to me, maybe a sentimental significance. When I played out in the back streets in my younger years I would find rich poetry in this commonplace subject matter against the ever changing skies and would find myself drawn to these views, clicking photos of them in my mind (long before the mobile phones of today!).
In this work the rooftops and chimneys are defined by bold, wide lines and are filled with finer shaded areas. The main subject matter is offset against a patchwork sky.
This is an original etching pulled from a zinc plate and printed on top quality somerset printmaking paper. It is a very rare artist's proof. (An artist's proof can be defined both as a print taken during progress of the work for the artist's benefit and it can often be a small edition of the work the artist has kept aside as his/her best versions of the print).
Your print will come wrapped in protective tissue paper to reach you in the best condition.
If you have any questions relating to the work before purchase please don't hesitate to ask me.
