Romeo and Juliet are a pair of lanky cat sculptures made from natural calabash wood, symbolising eternal love thwarted ... They are part of the CalbinoOz series.

Romeo is shy, with oversized ears like those of most slender CalbinoOz cats, like the ears of sphynx cats... He's wearing a long, bright peacock-blue jumper with a hood lined in light turquoise, a sort of mustard-green coppery undershirt with old gold buttons, and behind his back he's holding a pretty yellow-green copper poppy flower that he'd like to give to his sweetheart, Juliette...

Juliette is wearing a little petrol blue jumper with a turtleneck and dots in an aniseed mustard colour, and a sort of long dress made of natural calabash wood in the aniseed colour of the dots.

These long sculptures are fixed to a homemade wooden base, because a calabash emptied of its seeds, especially when it's long, becomes a hollow, light wood that could wobble without support.

Materials: empty natural calabash wood, surfine wood cellulose, vitrified plaster, acrylic paint and water-soluble oil, protective varnish.
