ROME SKYLINE FROM ORANGE GARDEN , original ABSTRACT CITYSCAPE is a textural impasto palette knife oil painting , sizes 20x20 inches ( 50x50 cm ) - commissioned work for a client in Oregon, U.S.
In this work I painted the view of Rome as seen from Orange Trees Garden. Over the rooftops that create those ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS of Rome can be seen St. Peter 's Dome. Everywhere I wandered, always I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I am able to observe what I call the ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS. The rhythm of the rooftops seen from the distance fascinates me. In my personal artistic vision the rooftops, the architectonic details create practically an aesthetic abstract pattern, that urges to be translated in differently morphed palette knife strokes and marks interacting with each other in various ways and generating the painterly quality of the impasto textures that I love so much. Please see my entire series of ABSTRACT CITYSCAPES to understand better what I'm talking about.
The Orange Garden of Rome ( Giardini degli Aranci ), known as Parco Savello, is perched above the river, on the Aventine Hill and offers one of the views of the Rome skyline. The view spreads from the Tiber to the Rome Temples of the Forum Boarium, from Santa Maria in Cosmedin, to the Janiculum and Saint Peter 's dome. It is one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Rome and the panoramic view at sunset is breathtaking.
