Dreaming of days gone by, days of sun and carefree travel. I wish those days would return, to feel the heat and the strangeness of a new city once again. So I paint to remember, and today I remember Rome, baking in the summer’s heat, and escaping into the coolth and shadow of side streets, away from the crowds and the noise. Here it feels timeless, washing hanging from windows, peeling paint and masonry, the smell of garlic and coffee and fried food. This work is rich in ochre, autumnal colour, rich in atmosphere, a perfect souvenir of the eternal city, a great gift.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
