Original artwork description:

The Rockhoppers are ganging up again! More wading birds! I love them!
This collage is made on a fabulous fabric which has a really organic look to it - very Scandinavian!
First I used gouache to create the water effect. I bought a decorators sponge which was full of holes, a bit like a cheese, and then I sponged the gouache on with this so it made a really cool effect. The rocks are grey fleece material so they stand out a bit. I stitched on the rocks and also used gouache to create waves and a bit of spray around the rocks. The Rockhoppers are made of a silky white cotton fabric. They are stitched on and I have used gouache to create the details on the birds. I used a strong orange cotton thread to make their legs and beaks which is a really nice contrast to the blue colours. This collage looks really fantastic on a light wall - it really stands out!
The collage is backed with white linen and it has a channel at the top so it is ready to hang off a pole or wooden dowel or similar. Alternatively, the collage can be framed.
This is a LARGE collage - I have taken photos of it hanging over the double bed in one of our B&B rooms so that you can get an idea of the size.
I have embroidered my signature and the title of the collage on the front.

Materials used:

heavy cotton, mixed textiles, embroidery, imagination!
