Robes, 2015
acrylic colour on Terschelling raw paper 300gm, acid free, 22 x 30 in., 56 x 76 cm
This took some thinking to imagine the possibilities using this thick, white absorbant paper. The results are interesting.
Burmese monk, robes tend to be of a purplish colour. This is an exercise in spilling the paint in a way to get the impression of thick overwhelming cloth, the robes on the monk, as the title suggests… or rather an abstract impression of the cloth the monk is wearing.
This is painted on a raw Terschelling paper, which takes the paint quite differently from a pressed paper.
The close up pictures are to get a better sense of the paint, paper and the brush stroke. Then there’s the work in progress.
