The glass object simultaneously expresses the power of water, flow, ripple, substance of the water, plastic values of its surface and
ripples and the relief of deep earth surface (riverbed) (shaped by the inner side of the glass). The silver 'coat'' layer on the back
gives a unique reflective effect: we can see the plastic values of the upper and lower parts at the same time. It's a unique ability of
glass and reflection that other materials cannot represent. The wave motion is a physical phenomenon that I've been dealing with
for a long time, many of my glass sculptures.
Work technical description
Technique: slumped to a mold, silver coated glass with stainless steel hanging sticks. I formed the heat-resistant plaster mold, on
which I slumped the glass in my electric kiln. After de-stressing and cooling, I grinded the edges of the glass by hand, then coated
the back side with a pure silver layer. Then I made the metal support sticks (I am goldsmith too) and then assembled them with the
glass. During the creation, centrifugal and gravitational forces contribute to the creation of the work (besides me). Many of this
piece could also be an artwork ''Riverflow'' series.
