A perfect, sunny, warm day touched with crisp fall morning sunlight found me on a the river bank at the Ojo Caliente resort in New Mexico. The easel legs were driven deep into the sand so it wouldn't all tumble. I created my own subconscious abstraction of the shapes on the banks of the river. Some vegetation here, a rock there; sandstone banks beyond. The acrylic glazes I mixed were just enough to bring it back to my studio in Denver and let my imagination complete it with pastel and charcoal scribbles. It turned these shapes into my own manifestations of what I felt. Playful, surreal and peaceful along the banks of the Rio Ojo Caliente.

This canvas is mounted on 1-1/2" deep museum stretcher bars which are painted as 3D extensions of the main image.
