When creating this painting, I wanted to capture the resilience and determination of a cowboy traversing through a snowstorm. I chose a close-up perspective, focusing on a heavy, well-worn boot adorned with a spur and intricate details, all dusted with snow—signs of a long and arduous journey. The background is intentionally abstract, with quick, expressive brushstrokes suggesting the motion of the horse’s leg and flowing fringe, creating a sense of movement as if the rider is pushing forward against the elements.

In terms of color, I primarily used a cool palette of blacks, blues, and grays, with white speckles representing falling snow to enhance the wintry atmosphere. To add depth and contrast, I introduced hints of bright green and metallic highlights, infusing the scene with a sense of vitality amid the harsh cold. My technique combines thick impasto with scraping and blending, lending both a rugged texture and a dynamic fluidity to the piece, reinforcing its realism and energy.
