This print is after two drawings by Lowry, made one hundred years ago. I always start with a drawing but the transfer to another medium implies editing. Dare I edit Lowry? Well, I retained linearity more than usual and the task was educational. And I think Lowry would be amused.
Lowry made two drawings of Richmond Hill from this viewpoint, one made from the other, years apart. Though Lowry made lithographs, the techniques used in this print were not available to him, but I suspect that if he had the opportunity he would have embraced the process and taken it to greater heights.
This print was pulled from relief matrices cut from rubber. All materials used are of high quality. Please fell free to contact me to ask a question or to leave a remark.
