This Oil Pastel on Black Paper drawing was done “en plein air” during an afternoon in the beautiful countryside of Yilan, Taiwan. It is a picture and place that I have wanted to experience and capture for a while. After searching for drawing locations, this picture was actually drawn from the 2nd floor balcony of the incredible Shan-Yen Hotplate restaurant as they kindly let me set up my easel and draw after our meal. It was a godsend to be under a shade as it was a very hot and humid day! I love the rice fields and farmhouses of Yilan and feel they create a very unique and special visual environment. I also want to capture the water filled Rice fields, but we went during growing season in May, so the fields were all beautiful and green! It is always a great surprise and really nice to see how full of life, growth and vitality the fields are during this time of year, and it creates a different feeling than the reflective water filled fields.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
