I have spent many vacations on the coast enjoying the beaches and trails. There is obvious beauty everywhere: The sun rising and setting over the ocean, the water itself, the soft rise of the sandy, rose-lined paths leading to the beach.

But, as in life, the small things can be overlooked and unappreciated. I attempt to capture the obscure so the viewer might look at the world a little more closely to find the beauty hidden in plain view around us.

Here, three birds perch on wires at sunrise in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The birds were singing and I appreciated their silhouettes among the curling vines, and even more so in black and white.
