Original artwork description:

Cold weather in the summertime, I was the only one in the North Sea. A lifeguard supervised me. Back on the beach I changed my clothes and overlooked the sea. My eyes groped the horizon. The lifeguard was at the drift line, next to him the life buoy. Spontaneously, I felt reminded of the picture "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog" by Caspar David Friedrich. In this appearance I wanted to paint lifeguards. At my request, he agreed.
