Original artwork description:

In 2021 I received a book called Launderama as a gift, in which photographer Joshua Blackburn documents London's approximately 400 still-operational launderettes. Having always been always fascinated by nostalgic city scenes, I loved the book and immediately set out to create paintings based on this concept.

This latest launderette (or laundromat) painting of mine isn't based on any particular photo, instead it uses many of the best details you'd see in a standard retro launderette. It's also partially inspired by a photo series by Samuel Ryde.

Here I used a strong orange colour for the main washing machines, contrasting with pastel turquoise and yellow tiles on the wall, and a house plant and a bottle of detergent resting on top.

The end result is a pleasing piece of retro pop art that would brighten up any room in the house.

It is painted in acrylics on thick high quality A4 paper. PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in a black A4 frame for display purposes.
Size -
8.3 inches x 11.7 inches
21 cm x 29 cm
Roughly 1mm thick

I've always been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.

Postage will be first class and tracked, in a cardboard envelope and a plastic wallet for full protection.

Materials used:

Paint, Paper, Posca Paint Pen
