Original artwork description:

A unique retro wire re-creation of an early Nikon F Photomic camera with a fan flash.
I love collecting great classic designs like old cameras, telephones, chairs etc. and this camera really is a beauty making history when it was introduced in April 1959.

It was Nikon's first SLR camera and was one of the most advanced cameras of its day. It was the first 35 mm SLR system to be widely adopted by professional photographers, especially photojournalists covering the Vietnam War, as well as for use by NASA astronauts. I was keen to let it live on!

Created by twisting, cutting, bending, curling and straightening wire with a small pair of pliers, a small pair of hands and good quality copper wire. The negative shapes between the wire which hold as much importance as the wire itself, encouraging the viewer to recognise this space as part of the sculpture.

Cool decor for an eclectic space, industrial themed room, urban interior, photography studio, mantlepiece or shelf.  It will also cast great shadows in daylight/ artificial light.

I am happy to accept commissions for all other cameras.

Materials used:

copper wire
