A black nude female figure painted loosely on a Studland cream board which has a fine surface with good absorption. The mannered style of this figure with this type of board lends itself to a free style of painting. The work was originally painted in1983 and has had some revision in 2022.
I apply the acrylic paint in a liquid form as the board absorbs the paint, so there is no need to worry about breaking down the paint binder. I use artists large hogs hair brushes to manipulate the work to give it a robust rendition.
The work only needs framing to to make it ready to hang and should preferably be framed under glass with a mount. A suggested frame width of at least 60mm or more for this size painting. Narrow frames on large paintings have tendency to not sit well and have a habit of warping.
