In November of 2020 I decided I had to get away. It had been a tough year for everyone as the pandemic took hold around the world.
So I headed to the outback in Queensland for a change of scenery. I had never been to the outback before and even though I knew it was getting into the warmer period I did not expect it to be as hot as it was.
The temperature was hitting into the mid 40's most days. It was stifling and I found it challenging to find shady places when outside the air conditioning of the car.
My mission was to collect photos to use as reference for future paintings.
My mind however kept drifting off to an imagined cool shady location with a fresh waterhole to rest and swim.
