Magic isn't about performing sleight of hand with cards or other objects. The magic of art is that something that at first glance seems simple or ordinary, like this landscape sketch might seem, is actually not so simple and can be astonishing, but not as a premeditated sleight of hand, but as something that emerges naturally and that magic imitates.
So, if, for example, we turn the landscape horizontally, or rather, if we lean in to read the landscape as if the Earth were an upside-down book, we can see what this landscape is telling us, and then, as if the veil that blinds us were falling away, we can see something else, a kind of light or spark that is the real magic that life constantly produces. An act as natural as people breathing.
