Idea of this painting came from Rene Schulthoff photo exhibition "Killing Sea"... Photo was taken on the rescue ship "Aquarius" in September 2016. The child was one of around 700 people we rescued that day in front of Libya on the Mediterranean sea. Sosmediterrannee is the name of the organisation that was running that vessel. These days the organisation has a new ship called "Ocean Viking" that is rescuing people now.
