Renaissance. Emerging from the past, rebirth into spring. A joyful outburst of vibrant colours merging together to form a visualisation of spring and the rebirth of life, giving hope. This painting took more than 8 months to complete, resulting in an extremely complex layered work.
A composition of acrylic paint, plaster, sand and pastels, inspired by the volatility of the moment. Exploring an intense, yet playful way how colours create light and shadows while drawing you into hidden depths.

In her mixed media works, Katja Wittmer creates colour compositions that invite to curiously explore beyond what is apparent at first glance. Playing with form, texture and abstraction, Katja Wittmer develops the wonderful complexity of colour -in an interplay that extends through several layers, she achieves a unique and highly individual compositional power, creating her own unmistakable style of abstract modern art.
