Original artwork description:

New series: Urban Decay.

If you've ever been to Rome, Florence or Havana, you'll know what I mean when I say, I love 'urban decay'. For me it's the multi-layered patina of erosion revealed by nature and time in decorative architecture. I have created a collection of new works that explore a hidden beauty revealed through degeneration, disrepair and decreptitude. Where nature and time partially peel back the pages of tales untold or forgotten.

There's an irresistible mystique in the textures and colours of urban decay.

Each new work features a deeply textured surface and multiple layers of colour, washes and glazing. To replicate elemental erosion and the passage of time, I have etched away areas to unmask the story beneath the story. Glimpses of pictures beneath a picture.

I love the isoteric narrative it creates. I hope you do too.

Materials used:

acrylic
