The Life as Reminiscence series started with a video I found on my phone. I captured Ukrainian landscapes filmed through the car window during a trip across Ukraine with friends. I have very warm memories of those moments. Being in migration, I am constantly searching for a place where I will feel safe and at peace. My recent works reflect this search. I create abstract landscapes within my imagination, and these places, although they don’t exist in reality, become a safe space where I feel protected.
I use phone apps that intentionally break the video, repeating parts and looping frames. Then, I select specific frames, print them on paper, cut out elements, and transfer the images onto the canvas using a technique similar to collage. I predominantly use pink, orange, and yellow colors. I want to fill the space with warm, gentle sunlight. This is a world where the sunset is always happening — a moment of calm and harmony. This process of creating the works is, for me, a way to stop time. Life as Reminiscence is made with great peace and even humility.
I hope my work inspires you to reflect on your own inner landscapes. When the colors and textures connect with you, the canvas becomes a mirror—not of the external world but of your soul.
The safe place we’re all searching for isn’t out there – it’s already within you.
