Original artwork description:

Painted as an abstract commemoration this year to the 100 year anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme and the tragic loss of life. The poppy has come to symbolize our desire for continued peace and our recognition of the sacrifice made by thousands of young men. Today the French fields once bloodied and scarred become ablaze with poppies, as if nature is paying its own tribute.
