Acrylic colour on thai handmade mulberry paper(kada sa), deckled edge, 13.3 x 9.5 in., 24 x 34 cm
Painting is inspired by a collection of old brass Buddha statues I saw on display at a temple in Bangkok.
The rest is an exercise in expressive colour, brushstroke, and layering. I want it to move and have a rough edge to it. The thick gold colour paint adds charm to the piece, unfortunately I have found it difficult to bring that out in the photo.
Here I use a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Please note that you can purchase in the same 1 order up to 3 paintings of this same size or smaller to be included in the same 1 shipping fee.
About framing this painting.
When considering framing bear in mind to not cover up the deckled edges. This is one of the specialties of the painting, one of its charms. It is best displayed framed with a cut mat board around the painting so as not to cover the edges, thereby putting some space between the art and the glass and bringing depth to the framed art. It can also be framed simply with backing board and pressed with glass over the front without causing damage.
