Original artwork description:

My third peice in this series explores themes of escape, release and freedom. Our shackles to the earth and the soaring freedom of birds is an ever present human thought and dreams of flight are common.
Exploring a slightly darker side and the mingling of airflow of vorteces created by the movements of these wonderful creatures has been a huge joy for me to paint.

Poetry in purest motion.

For me, the importance of this work is not in the portrait for the birds but their expression of movement and the hewn aspect of the skull. I'm a bit in love with this one!

I have chosen to express the birds outside of the skull in muted tones to reflect the realness of the birds when within. I've used soft grey with highlights of turquoise and violet to express the sheen on the wings and turquoise again to evoke the vorteces as they cut through the air.

Offered unframed and unmounted this work will be shipped rolled in a robust cardboard tube for you to display in your style.

Swallows Ascending

Fly away swallows,
Fly away home,
Ascend the heights,
Ere to roam.

Swoop on wing and,
Soar on high,
Fly away swallows,
Summer's end is nigh.
