The ancient Japanese prints depicting natural environments, with their rarefied atmospheres, have always fascinated me. Some of my works draw inspiration from these and "Regolo with Butterflies Among Frangipani Branches" is one of them.
I aimed to capture a moment of enchantment and elegant serenity. A kingfisher, with its vibrant plumage, perches on a frangipani branch while, on the opposite side, a green butterfly camouflages among the leaves. The dominant green and yellow colors engage in a dialogue with both the golden background, making the scene brighter and more ethereal, and the brocade fabric surrounding the image.
