This new range of monoprints is a development of my earlier, fashion inspired drypoint etchings. There is beauty all around us, in magazines, social media and advertising and this new work is an attempt to reflect the beauty within each of us, but also to make a comment about something deeper. Whether it is vulnerability, strength or perhaps determination that you see in each of these women, they have been created to reflect back whatever you need to see. That is the reason these mono prints remain without a title - to name them would be to somehow restrict the potency of whatever it is you see reflected back to you in that moment of looking.
Each print is hand painted on a mono print plate and then the decorative paper surround is placed on the plate before it is run through the press. The prints are all printed on 300gsm Somerset paper.
Please note that there may be a slight 'waviness' to the print when it arrives - this is due to the way the decorative paper dries when glued to the Somerset paper. This is not a flaw in the print and when placed in a frame the print them flattens itself again. I am, therefore, recommending that these prints are bought with the intention of framing to get the most enjoyment from the print. They will leave my studio flat and packed with mount board either side of the print to reduce any changes to way the paper lies. Please do get in touch if you have any further questions about this.
