Much photographed, these housefronts overlook the harbour in the beautiful town of Rovinj, or to give its Italian name, Rovigno, on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, just across the water from Venice. As soon as I saw these weathered facades with their reflections on the water, I immediately knew that I had to paint them. They are located in a small bay where there is a daily market selling local produce such as vegetables, herbs, olive oil and flowers and so those were the sounds in the background as I worked, in spite of the serene peacefulness of the scene. I have paid loving attention to detail here in a way that you cannot do when painting from a photograph but I found the subject so fascinating that it was worthwhile almost melting in the southern sun whilst painting it!

"Reflections, Rovinj" was painted en plein air in beautiful Rovinj, Croatia on high quality watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints. It comes in a warm white mount to fit a standard size frame of 50x70cm.
