In the center of downtown Oceanside, California, morning sunshine streams through islands of palms and ripples across the reflecting pool.

Artist Bonnie Lambert is always on the lookout for moments of inspiration for her oil paintings. Her check list of requirements includes a compelling story, deep contrast and intense color, nature and the-hand-of-man in a dance, and that certain hard-to-describe something. On a visit to an oceanside village, Lambert captured a reference photo of a palm tree lassoing the sun, whose light shimmered in the water. Palms and pools—so Southern Californian!

My Artistic Inspiration…
I’m a cityscape oil painter passionate about bright colors and deep contrast. My inspirations are the fluid light, dramatic vistas, quiet neighborhoods and stark landscapes of California and the Southwest. I paint with a vibrant palette and expressive brushstrokes to share my vision of an essence of the urban experience. I hope that the viewer will be inspired to see the world around them in a new, beautiful light.
