Acrylic painting of an underwater scene.
I have drawn inspiration from the memories of many dives on tropical reefs. This unusual perspective of a reef is from a narrow deep canyon, with sea turtle, fish, a sunken galleon and breaking waves seen from below the surface.
As with many of my paintings I start with a background of marine colours and look deeply into this for some days until a scene develops. I then add to this until the painting feels complete.
I have always loved diving and it is intense colour and detail that fascinate me here. This is a theme I always come back to and never get tired of painting.
