On February 11th, 1967 the police raided Redlands, Keith Richards’ country home in West Wittering. Jagger, Faithfull, Richards, and some friends were there and had spent the day tripping on LSD. Faithfull had just taken a bath and wrapped herself in a fur rug. While Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” played over and over on the phonograph, the cops searched those present–Faithfull just dropped her rug. The police found four benzedrine tablets on Jagger (which Faithfull says were hers) and a piece of hash, which they returned to him, thinking it was dirt.
I made this painting for the exhibition "Sexy Rock" (Rome, 2015-2016), an exhibit inspired by the many legends of rock.
acrylic colour, gesso primer.
